This year's Toonies for Tummies campaign asks shoppers to take the #ToonieChallenge reminding them that the breakfast routine is among the many things that have changed for many children, especially hungry children who prior to COVID-19 would attend their local student nutrition program, many counting on them daily. These programs would provide them a source of nourishment, for some hungry children offering their best meal of the day.
Burnbrae Farms has been a long-standing supporter of healthy breakfasts. This year's program is especially meaningful, knowing the costs to provide individually portioned breakfasts in a safe environment has meant increased costs. We appreciate all the shoppers who are joining us and supporting the campaign and all the volunteers in countless communities in Western Canada, Ontario and in Atlantic Canada who are making sure the healthy food is making its way to students whether they are eating at home as part of their virtual studies or a back at school accessing a grab and go meal to eat in a safe space.
This year's Toonies for Tummies in-store program features our EGGBakes! Crustless Quiches and Egg Patties, which are convenient, nutrient-dense ideas for breakfast on the run. EGGBakes! are packed with protein, plus vital nutrients such as vitamin A, calcium and iron, EGGBakes! are a kid-friendly option that help nourish bodies and enrich growing minds.
Burnbrae Farms is incredibly proud to be part of the #Toonies4Tummies community and to stand alongside so many other companies and the many retailers where you can purchase our products, including EGGBakes!. Feeding hungry children is part of our commitment to supporting Canadians wellness. Helping ensure Canadian school children are well-nourished and ready to learn is important to us all. Studies show that breakfast is important for a child's brain power. In fact, breakfast-eaters are better at tasks requiring attention and memory, compared with kids who skip the morning meal.
This past year, we are proud to have been recognized for our commitment to the environment. Both are part of our stewardship and principles that remain central to our operations over 130 years.
