Two girls eating breakfast
Our school breakfast program has had a very positive impact on our school community. Since its implementation, we have seen significant improvements in student well-being, focus, and readiness to learn. Students arrive at school knowing they will be welcomed with a nutritious meal and a warm, supportive environment. It provides them not only with breakfast but also an opportunity to socialize with friends before the school day begins. A key success of the program has been the development of a welcoming and respectful breakfast routine that runs smoothly and efficiently, thanks to the dedication of our breakfast team. One important lesson we have learned is the power of food to bring people together. The breakfast program nourishes not only relationships but also bodies. We see our students sitting together and chatting as they enjoy their meals, which is a wonderful way to start the day. We are deeply grateful for the support of this program and look forward to continuing to build on its positive impact. School Administrator

School hunger affects learning and classroom engagement

Research shows that when children are supported with access to food at school, they are more engaged, more confident, and better able to succeed in the classroom.

  • Reduced concentration and focus
  • Lower academic performance and achievement
  • Increased behavioural challenges, fatigue, and irritability
  • Less time for teaching, more time spent managing hunger-related needs
